Work the deal pipeline
Create deals, drag them through stages, link proposals, and mark deals won so owners carry over to delivery and billing.
The pipeline is where opportunities move from first contact to signed. This article covers creating deals, moving them, and closing them out so the rest of Verbial picks up where sales left off.
Steps
- Go to CRM in the sidebar, then Deals. Choose the brand and, if it has more than one, the pipeline.
- Click New deal. Name it, search for the primary company, and enter amount, expected close date, priority, and deal type. If the company already has open deals you see a warning listing them.
- Click Create deal. You are set as owner and taken to the deal page.
- To move a deal, drag its card into the next stage column. The change saves at once and the toast has Undo. On the deal page, click a stage in the stepper instead.
- Moving a deal to a lost stage asks for a lost reason. It stays on the deal and feeds the loss-reason analytics under CRM, then Analytics.
- To link a proposal, open the proposal and use its CRM card to attach it to the deal. The deal page then lists every proposal sent for it.
How do owners and account managers work?
New deals are owned by you. To reassign, open the deal, click Edit, and change the owner field. There is also an Account manager field for whoever runs the account after the sale. When you link a company, a blank owner or account manager fills in from the company's account team.
Deals with no owner are visible to every salesperson in the brand so imported and form-created records can be claimed. To claim one, open it, click Edit, and set yourself as owner.
What to check
- Deals that have not moved in a week appear in the Stuck deals panel on the CRM home page.
- The CRM home page also shows tasks due today, recent replies from Inbox, and a 30-day forecast.
- Custom properties, field permissions, and object permissions are configured under CRM, then CRM settings.
Notes
Commissions are currently in beta. Where enabled, each person sees only their own numbers on the Commissions page, admins aside.
Questions
Who can see a deal?
Within a brand, salespeople and account managers see deals they own plus unassigned deals. Account directors see all deals in their brands. Admins see every brand.
What happens when a deal is won?
The close date is recorded, a commission entry is created for the owner where commissions are enabled, and the owner and account manager carry over to the company account so delivery and billing see the same people.
Can I have more than one pipeline?
Yes. Pipelines and stages are managed per brand under CRM settings, then Pipelines.
