Submit and approve weekly timesheets

Submit your week, review your team's submissions, approve or reject with a note, and fix a rejected week.

Weekly approval is a short sanity check: are the hours reasonable, do the notes describe the work, are entries on the right project. This article covers both sides of it.

Submit your week

  1. Go to My work, then Timesheet.
  2. Check every day you worked has time logged and every entry has a note.
  3. Click Submit at the top right and confirm. Your approver is notified.
  4. Forgot last week? The dashboard shows a Past-week timesheet to submit action item that opens that week directly.

Review the queue

  1. Go to Team, then Approvals. Each row is a week submitted by one person; directors also see individual entries billed to their department.
  2. Click a row to expand the entries.
  3. Click Approve if it looks right. The entries lock.
  4. Click Reject to send it back. Add a short, specific note ("add notes to Tuesday"). The person gets a notification and an action item linking to that week, or to the exact highlighted entry for a single-entry rejection.

Fix a rejected week

  1. On the dashboard, click Rejected timesheet to fix.
  2. Read the rejection note at the top of the week.
  3. Edit the flagged entries.
  4. Click Submit again. The approver sees it back in the queue.

Questions

Who approves?

Managers approve their team's weeks. Directors approve entries billed to the departments they direct. Admins can approve anything.

What happens after approval?

The entries lock. On a prepaid project they settle against the retainer credit. The person cannot edit them until the approver reopens the week.

What if nobody reviews a week?

If Auto-approve after is set under Settings, then Time tracking, the week approves itself after that many days.
